Theatre: Teen Paishacha Tamasha

In late seventies he was invited by Dr Jabbar Patel and Bhaskar Chandavarkar to act as a ‘Sootradhar’ in the opera ‘Teen Paishacha Tamasha’ This was written by the famous humorist Late P.L. Deshpande.
It was a gratifying experience to work with the stalwarts of
Marathi theatre in Pune. His performance was appreciated by
Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Vasantrao Deshpande, C. Ramchandra,
Dilipkumar, Nana Patekar, Gulzar, Om Puri, Mohan Agashe,
Girish Karnad, Shabana Azmi, Nasiruddin Shah and other stage and
cine artistes.

Stage performances

His first Ghazal performance was at Panjim in Goa in 1981 First show in Pune was organized by Sabrang Cultural Foundation

He has performed in cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Aurangabad and also in Konkan and Khandesh.

He has presented ghazals in presence of Dilipkumar, Kalyanji Anandji, Laxmikant Pyarelal from the film world. Political leaders like Chandrashekharji, Govindrao Adik, Shivraj Patil, A.R. Antuley and towering personalities like Ratan Tata from the corporate world have been a part of his rapturous audience.

Ustad Anwar Qureshi was invited to sing at the following festivals

He gave a special performance and donated Rs.50000/- to an infant for heart surgery.

Shows abroad

He has enthralled the people on foreign shores by his mellifluous voice and melodious ghazals. He did about 20 shows in Dubai and Bahrain.

Award

He was bestowed with the prestigious Raja Mantri Award for his contributions to music by the then chief minister Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh.
